Continued Eligibility Check for California Customers
The Federal Lifeline administrator will be verifying that customers living in California are still eligible for their benefit. These checks will occur from August to October 2026.
The administrator, known as the Universal Service Administrative Co. (USAC), will first attempt to confirm your eligibility through its database checks. If it can confirm your eligibility this way, you will not be contacted and do not need to take any action to continue receiving your benefit.
If USAC cannot verify your eligibility, you will receive an email or letter with directions on how to confirm it so you can continue receiving your Lifeline benefit. If you receive this email or letter, it is important that you take the requested action by the listed deadline, or you will lose your federal Lifeline benefit.
What the email will look like:
The subject line will be: "Stay Connected! Confirm Your Eligibility".
The email will include:
- Your Application ID
- A list of documents needed to prove your eligibility
- Directions on how to submit your documents
If USAC is unable to deliver the email to an address associated with your account, it will send a letter to the address on file.
Please follow the instructions in the email or letter by its deadline or you will lose your Federal Lifeline benefit.
